Electrical Engineering students at Telkom University Surabaya study the philosophy of digital minimalism and the trend of migrating to "dumbphones" (feature phones). This study encompasses the analysis of device addiction behaviors; the effectiveness of transitioning from modern smartphones to Japanese flip phones—specifically the Kyocera Digno 902KC and its successor, the A202KC, which run on Android and support app sideloading; the verification of international cellular network band compatibility; and the configuration management of physical hardware components such as infrared sensors and pedometers. A deep understanding of specialized mobile device architecture, radio frequency compatibility analysis, and the ergonomics of communication technology usage equips graduates to design, analyze, and evaluate portable communication systems reliably, efficiently, and professionally.
